Bertil Vallien has a long history of finding new modes of expression with the quirky material of glass. With the Marker series he accentuates the power of glass by eliminating its seductive transparency and working solely with opaque black and white. The result is masculine and full of contrasts. The shapes are distinct, each piece in the series adorned with a “marker” of the craft and of Swedish glass.
